Not much. Always something. Mostly good.

Christmas Trip - Day 5

Note to self: when faced with an unknown system, such as replacing a bunch of electrical sockets and switches, including two 3-way switches, always understand the desired end, and read the instructions.

Repeat: read the instructions.

By evening, all the kitchen lights were working properly. At last. After about five hours quite a few frayed nerve endings.

Christmas Trip - Day 4

We finished most of the kitchen today, which meant hooking up the new sink (my job) grouting the tile (my dad's job), putting in a new cabinet above the refrigerator (a contractor), putting in new electric outlets and covers (me and dad). At the same time, my step brother arrived, then he and my dad's wife went to Newark airport to pick up her parents. It's a full house!

I'm tired, but feel good about work well done. More enjoyment to come, no doubt.

Christmas Trip - Day 3

Had a little trouble waking up this morning, but once I did it was a full day!

First, I helped my dad get Firefox installed on his Macintosh notebook, and moved over his bookmarks from Internet Explorer. He's running Panther, and that version of Safari doesn't import bookmarks (crazy). Version 2.x of Safari is only available on Tiger (also crazy). He seems happy with Firefox so far.

Next, we began tiling their kitchen. They've been remodeling their kitchen for the last month, and today the new countertop was put in. Our tiling work looks very good. I also cut quite a bit of tile using the wet saw, which I enjoy.

A nice dinner tonight at a Mexican restaurant. Dos Equis Ambert tastes good after a long work day.
